Touch Football
Our girls’ touch football team continued to progress in the state-wide knockout competition with a strong 7-2 win over Kyogle. The difference was our girls’ skill, speed, defence and most importantly teamwork. In round 5, we played a strong Yamba team. The teams could not be split at fulltime and, after reaching extra time, Yamba won after both teams reached 3 players each.
Soccer
The boys’ continued to progress strongly through the Statewide PSSA Knock-out football/soccer competition. They beat a determined Yamba side 4-1 making them the Zone (Northern Rivers) champions. They then met a strong Murwillumbah East team. The score was close at half time, but the Murwillumbah team scored more freely in the second half winning the game.
Netball
In early term 3, our netball team competed in the Northern Rivers Netball Schools Cup.
The girls had an extremely successful day, versing tough competition and finishing third. All students should be extremely proud of their efforts, showing great sportsmanship and determination throughout the day.
Cricket
The boys cricket team had a marvellous run making it through to round 4 of the statewide knockout competition where they met Yamba. Yamba was too skill making 2/181 while restricting our team to 10/46. Our team continued to display excellent teamwork and sportsmanship.
Tennis
This term, Stage 1, years 1 and 2 students, were honing their tennis skills with training from Lismore Tennis coaches. They participated in activities focused on developing skills and court awareness while also playing mini games.
Hockey
Our school hockey team played Grafton Public in the statewide PSSA Knock-out competition in the regional finals. We faced a very strong and experienced Grafton Public and were defeated 8-1. The score was 6-1 at half time with our team fighting back late in the first half and showed greater self-belief in the second half to keep Grafton to only 2 goals.
Rugby Union
Is Mason a future Wallaby? Mason spent three days playing rugby union at the State Rugby Union championships in Camden. Reports were that he played the best footy he has ever played. He was also an exceptional captain, communicating positively and constructively with his teammates and referee. The state coach even spoke with him and is looking forward to seeing him next year in year 6! Mason's team finished 4th in their pool.

They never gave up and enjoyed the experience of competing at such a high level. Congratulations to Sonny who came 1st in the long jump while also achieving a PB by over 30cm, Henry who came 8th and achieved a PB in the 800m. Olivia also received a special award as she was 11yr Girls Runner-up from the Zone Athletics carnival.
