A Broader Bundjalung Language Program was introduced into our school curriculum in 2018. The program currently involves Stage 1 accessing a 30-minute lesson each week for the school year. Lessons are delivered by the Bundjalung Language Tutor, Uncle Elliot Knight. The tutor works collaboratively with the Teacher Aboriginal Language and Culture Nest to develop the program being delivered. This is an exciting addition to our school’s cultural education program and was very positively received and endorsed by the Aboriginal parent body during the parent consultation meeting. Students will learn some basic words, including how to say ‘hello’ - Jingi Wallah, and how to introduce themselves ‘I am…’ - Ngoy Gulla… (the ‘g’ is ‘Ngoy’ silent!).
