Teacher Profile
Hello, my name is Megan Bennett, and I have been teaching at Wyrallah Road Public School since 2018. During that time, I have held various roles including Classroom Teacher, Assistant Principal and Learning and Support Teacher.
In 2025, I am excited to be teaching a 3/4 class. I will also be leading the school's public speaking program and guiding the school's environmental club. This year I am also commencing a Master of Education (Specialist Inclusive Education) and was awarded a Department of Education scholarship to support my studies.
My aim as a teacher is to support every student to have success. I strive to build strong respectful relationships and let each child know that I see them and, value their uniqueness.
I grew up in Lismore, moved away for study and work, and returned in 2018 with my family. Teaching is my second career. After graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Engineering, I worked for over 20 years around Australia protecting and/or rehabilitating the environment from the impact of industries such as coal mining, road construction, ski resorts and remote island tourism. While living and working as a Ranger on Lord Howe Island, I started volunteering at my children’s school and realised that I felt very comfortable in the school environment. I studied by distance from the Island and graduated with a Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) from Charles Sturt University in 2017.
I love to read, sing, hike, camp, paddle, garden and travel.
