Katelyn Bignell
My name is Katelyn Bignell and I am one of the Assistant Principals at Wyrallah Road. This year I am supervising Stage 1. I will be working across the school and providing in-class support in both technology and literacy.
I completed my Bachelor of Education in 2010 at Griffith University (Gold Coast) and have experienced working in various schools across all grades. I started my teaching career in a large public school in southern Sydney, teaching students from K-6 and leading various extracurricular activities across the school. I have also worked as an Instructional Leader, supporting my colleagues to integrate Lego Robotics into classroom teaching.
I am passionate about delivering engaging learning experiences, where all have an opportunity to thrive. I’m also experienced in leading high-quality literacy and numeracy programs across various stages.
I believe that children can achieve their best when they feel a sense of belonging and are valued for their contribution to the classroom. I enjoy building a positive rapport with students and supporting them to achieve their learning goals. I welcome parents and caregivers to be involved in their child’s learning through regular and open communication, so that together we can create a great educational experience for your child.
Outside of school, I am a wife, a mum and a cat lover. I love spending time with my family and friends, reading, listening to podcasts, going to the beach and swimming.
