Learning and support teachers at WRPS provide direct and timely specialist assistance to students in regular classes with disability and additional learning and support needs. Learning and support teachers work closely with staff and parent/carers to meet the needs of all students. All staff implement the NSW Department of Education Inclusive education for students with disability policy.
Our work emphasises:
- the needs of individual students
- school priorities, and
- evidence-based programs to assist students with additional learning and support needs.
The Wyrallah Road Public School team of SLSO's provide in class support and are also trained to deliver programs in English and Maths instruction.
Additionally, the English as an Additional Dialect (EAL/D) teacher offers specific support to students for whom English is an additional language or dialect. Learning English is essential for success at school and for further education. Student support aims to develop EAL/D students' English language competence and improve their learning outcomes throughout the curriculum to a level where they can fully participate in schooling and independently pursue further education and training.
