4th Round PSSA Boys' Hockey

14 Aug 2019

An amazing game of teamwork was witnessed on Monday when our school hockey team comprising of boys and girls (we are in the boys' competition) played Westlawn Public from Grafton in the 4th round of the state wide hockey competition. It took several minutes for Westlawn to score and then they scored another quick goal. Wyrallah Road then seemed to get into the game and had a couple of short corners to end the half. The score was 2 nil at half-time. The game was still in the balance until half way through the second half when Westlawn again scored two quick goals. Wyrallah Road quickly replied with their first goal with a well taken strike from Caitlyn which was set up by Kalon and Thomas. The final score was 4-1 with all Westlawn goals having to be scored in the corners due to Max's great coverage of the goals. Wyrallah Road played well until the final whistle with Westlawn just being a bit more experienced (most of their players were in Year 5 and 6 with many playing in the North Coast boys' rep team). All our players played strongly. They are to be congratulated on the efforts, positive attitude, teamwork and excellent improvement in skills. Dakota was player of the match making many timely tackles. Kalon, Thomas and Caitlyn also played strongly making timely tackles and attacking raids.

Thank you to all the parents who assisted with transport and encouraged and supported all the students.
