What an amazing experience it was to be involved in Stars of Lismore – Dance for Cancer. Before performing for the students yesterday I shared the two reasons why I accepted the opportunity to participate. The first was to do whatever I could to raise as much money as possible in support of the vital work that the Cancer Council do. The second was to step well outside my comfort zone and challenge myself and hopefully help students realise that vulnerability can be a rewarding and powerful stepping stone to learning.
In raising over $6,500 there are a lot of people to thank. Firstly to the P&C, the staff, all the students and families of WRPS – your generosity made up the bulk of the money raised. Your support has been overwhelming. Thank you also to some amazing WRPS family businesses who helped with PJ’s and Keysies hosting collection boxes and the fantastic Michelle and Tommy from the Hair Embassy for getting me stage ready.
Finally, I know the difference a great teacher can make and I was fortunate to have one of the best in my corner. Serena Joy from Arte Gitana Flamenco (https://artegitana.jimdo.com/) guided me from a complete non-dancer to being able to produce something to be proud of – thank you!
