Kindergarten Excursion to Rocky Creek Dam

Last Thursday, 9 May, Kindergarten students travelled to Rocky Creek Dam for their first excursion. The children participated in a number of activities at Rocky Creek Dam with the help of staff members from the Dorroughby Environmental Education Centre. The students went on the platypus walk where they learnt about different types of trees and how they were used in the past by Indigenous people. They also learnt Bundjalung words for animals, sang songs and listened to how to keep animals and the environment safe. Students used their senses whilst participating in rainforest investigation activities and had lots of fun playing on the equipment. Kindergarten had a very enjoyable day in the beautiful weather and learnt lots of interesting information which will relate to our integrated unit ‘Rainforest Safari’.
