On Thursday, our Kindergarten students were lucky enough to experience the beauty of Rocky Creek Dam and explore the natural environment in our local area. Our excursion linked with our current unit of work ‘Rainforest Safari'. Students participated in a Forest Party held by the staff members from Dorroughby Environmental Education Centre.
The children spent a fun filled day participating in a variety of activities. We played environmental games and sang the ‘Aussie Outback Party' song. We took part in rainforest investigation activities using our senses. The children were very eager to go on a platypus walk along the elevated boardwalk beside the creek. Some classes were fortunate enough to spot a platypus swimming in the water. They also explored and played on the forest playground where we learnt about the water cycle.
