On Tuesday and Thursday of Week 9, Year 1 students went on an excursion to the Friends of the Koala Rescue Centre. After a long walk the children enjoyed a koala information session as well as a tour of the facility where we got to see a number of the koalas that were being cared for at the centre, including a couple of very cute joeys.
We were also treated to a very interesting session with WIRES who taught us about their wonderful work rescuing and caring for other sick and injured native animals.
After some recess by the lake and a bit of bird and turtle spotting, we headed back to school with a stop off at Wade Park for some lunch and a play! All in all, a great day with lots of learning and plenty of fun. Some wonderfully detailed reports on Koalas have been written in the days since.
Special thanks to Mrs McKenna for organising the excursion.
