AIME is an educational program that gives Indigenous high school students the skills, opportunities, belief and confidence to complete high school at the same rate as non-indigenous students. By matching Indigenous high school students with university student mentors, AIME successfully supports the students to finish high school. AIME also connects students with post Year 12 opportunities, including further education and employment.
AIME delivers one off workshops in primary schools as an introduction to the AIME program. It is hoped that by knowing about and understanding the program, students will be more likely to want to engage in the program when they enter high school.
The program gives students a chance to see what AIME is about and to do some activities as a group including confidence building, discussing their dream jobs and a dance session. Students also have the opportunity to travel to the university for the annual AIME celebration day.
