Last week, I travelled down to Newcastle to represent the North Coast in the New South Wales PSSA State Hockey Titles.
On the first day, I had two games. In the first game, we played CIS Invitational team and won 4-0. In our second game, we played Sydney East and got a 3-0 win.
On our second day, we played four games. In our first game, we played North West and came away with a 4-0 win. In our second game, we played Polding and I was captain of the team and scored a goal. In our third game, we had a 0-0 draw with Sydney North. In our last game of the day, we played Riverina and came away with our biggest win of 7-0 and I scored 2 goals. We finished 1st in our pool and didn’t have a goal scored against us.
Our last day was finals day. In the semi final, we had a draw with Sydney South West even after extra time, but we went through to the grand final because we finished 1st in our pool. In the Grand Final we played McKillop and had a 1-1 draw. We were both announced as joint winners.
I didn’t get selected in the NSW State team but I was the only Grade 5 girl in my team so I will practice and try again next year. I really enjoyed being part of this team and making new friends.
