On Wednesday, 7 February, Shelli van Santen, a Marine Pollution Scientist from Southern Cross University, presented Stage 3 with her marine pollution research. In line with Stage 3's current integrated unit, The Great World Below, students learnt about the growing problem of plastic rubbish polluting the rivers and oceans around the world. Students learnt about the impacting dangers that marine debris is having on the ocean's wildlife. Shelli explained how we can each make a difference by refusing, reducing, reusing and recycling our daily plastic items – especially plastic bags, plastic drink bottles and plastic drinking straws. We are all part of the solution to plastic pollution!
