On Monday 8 May, 33 Stage 2 and 3 students attended The Rivers Chess Competition at Kadina High School. It was very encouraging to see so many enthusiastic chess players from WRPS. Our students were competitive, with all players winning at least one of their six games. In the Stage 2 category, Daniel placed 2nd with 4.5 points (out of 6) and Matthew R placed 3rd. In the Stage 3 category, Stan and Brodey scored 4.5 points while Zane, Jed, Maison, Hamish and Matthew all scored 4 out of 6. Well done to the students playing in their first tournament. It was a great experience- competing against players of all ages, including High Schoolers. Chess Club runs on Friday at Lunchtime. Be there, or be square!
