Shake your groove thing… that's what we sang, and that's what we did right into the history books! The WRPS 2016 Schools Spectacular team were 23 of the 5233 students who set the Guinness World Record for the "Largest Amateur Variety Act in the Southern Hemisphere" during the finale of this year's 2 ½ hour show.
Our 8 choir students where part of the 2700 strong choir who sang and moved throughout the entire show, needing to learn parts of 23 songs and use a range of props and movements to support featured artists and dance ensembles. They even had to learn a song in Latin, one in German and sing one song with sign language.
In their funky pink costumes, our 15 WRPS dancers were part of a segment showcasing a number of rural and remote schools, and brought the house down with their groovy moves to Shake Your Groove Thing and Shut Up and Dance.
