Teacher Profiles:

Miss Fagan

Hi, my name is Miss Renee Fagan and I am one of the Assistant Principals. I will be working Tuesday through to Friday each week and share 4F with Mr Mark Platt.

I feel privileged to be a part of the wonderful community that makes up Wyrallah Road Public School and be a part of such a dedicated team of teachers.

I completed my teaching degree at the University of Newcastle in 2009 and have worked in various schools since. I began my career in Newcastle in a large public school then moved to Western NSW to teach in isolated communities. I have worked in both Lightning Ridge and Collarenebri Central Schools as a classroom teacher and Instructional Leader.

As a teacher I am passionate about providing learning opportunities that excite and enrich all students in an environment that is supportive of their social and emotional development. I have extensive experience leading literacy and numeracy programs, implementing technology and am passionate about embedding multicultural and Aboriginal perspectives across the curriculum.

I believe that a great educational experience for children is fostered through excellent family-school partnerships and I aim to establish positive, open-lines of communication with all parents and carers. I will endeavour to make myself available at school and via phone or email if you would like to discuss any aspects of your child's school experience with me.

Outside of school I enjoy photography, cooking and being a mum (and dog-mum) to my three daughters and cheeky sausage dog 'Schnitzel von Krumm'.

Mr Platt:

Hello, my name is Mr. Mark Platt and I have been working at Wyrallah Road Public School since 2015. Prior to moving back to the Northern Rivers I spent six years teaching in the Hills District of North Western Sydney, where I taught both Stage 2 and 3.

I strongly believe that all students are unique and have the ability to shine in their own way. I urge all of my students to make the most of the year and to get involved in extracurricular activities they have a passion for. In my classroom, I promote the ethos that there is no such thing as ‘I can’t’ and believe that some of the best learning opportunities come through failed attempts and having a go. I hope to instill a sense of pride and positive mindset in all of my students, with the aim to develop resilience and increase independence as they progress through their schooling.

Class Profile: 4F is a group of 27 young learners, comprised of 15 girls and 12 boys. We look forward to a big year of learning and fun!
