Teacher Profiles

Simone Glendinning: My name is Simone Glendinning and I am excited to be teaching 3H with Mrs Megan Pickford in a class share for the rest of this year.

I grew up in Sydney and have spent a number of years extending my Primary Education qualifications at the University of Wollongong, specialising in Special Education and Information Communication Technologies. I have taught for 15 years in both public and private schools, and I love the creative and inquisitive nature of children. I believe that when children feel valued and are engaged in meaningful learning experiences they have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

At Wyrallah Road Public School I am part of the English and Creative Arts curriculum team, the Learning Support Team and the Gifted and Talented Support Team.

I love spending time at the beach, travelling to new places, going to art galleries, the theatre and the movies; I enjoy taking photographs and reading children’s picture books.

Megan Pickford: A little about me, I completed my teaching degree at the University of Southern Queensland in 2011 and have worked in a range of educational settings and positions since. This has included metropolitan, suburban and rural schools. I have worked as a Head of Curriculum and as a Relieving Assistant Principal.

As a teacher, I am passionate about providing learning opportunities that excite and enrich all students. I have extensive experience leading literacy and numeracy programs, as well as implementing technology in 21st Century Classrooms. In addition to this, I am passionate about creativity and The Arts, working as a florist and musician before becoming a teacher. I enjoy incorporating these skills into my classroom teaching.

One of my personal philosophies is to include the whole family in a child's education. I love to get to know the families of my students and have as much communication with you as possible. I love to see consistency at home and at school and appreciate support in achieving this. Please feel free to come in any time or email me to make an appointment to discuss your child's progress.

Besides teaching, my husband and I own a farm in which we run cattle and manage beehives. In my spare time, I love to spend time with my little family, travel, read, watch movies and drink coffee.
