Teacher Profile:
My name is Megan Bennett and I’m excited to be returning to Wyrallah Road Public School this year. I joined the talented and hard-working staff at WRPS in 2018 and I am on Stage 2 teaching Year 4.
I grew up in Lismore and moved to Brisbane to study at university. After graduating in 1992 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Engineering, I worked for over 20 years in various locations around Australia protecting and/or rehabilitating the environment from the impact of industries such as coal mining, road construction, ski resorts and remote island tourism.
While living and working as a Ranger on Lord Howe Island, I started volunteering at my children’s school and it was during this time that I came to the realisation that I felt very comfortable in the school environment. I studied teaching by distance and graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Teaching (Primary).
I am passionate about environmental sustainability and have strong skills and a love for the sciences, geography and mathematics. I have high expectations of my students and aim to help them succeed through establishing a strong relationship with them and their family and providing engaging learning experiences.
I have three children and love to read, listen to music, go hiking, camping and mountain biking, create gardens and travel. I also sing in a local community choir and paddle with the Rainbow Dragons dragon boat club!
