Teacher Profile:

My name is Megan Bennett and this is my second year teaching at the wonderful Wyrallah Road Public School. Last year I taught Year 2, so I know the current Year 3 students very well.

I aim to provide an inclusive and engaging classroom that promotes the development of positive and respectful behaviour and relationships. Together we recognise kind, brave and creative actions.

I grew up in Lismore and after 26 years away returned in 2017 with my husband Andrew and three children: Hamish (Year 8), Audrey (Year 6) and Leo (Year 4). We love to read, listen to music, go hiking and camping, ride our mountain bikes, create gardens and travel.

Both my parents were teachers as was one grandmother and several cousins. My sister and another cousin are professors.  So I guess you could say teaching is in my blood. However, I came to the profession later in my working life. Before teaching I worked for over 20 years in various locations around Australia to protect the environment from industries such as coal mining, road construction, ski resorts and remote island tourism. I graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental Engineering) in 1995, and am passionate about environmental sustainability and have strong skills in the sciences and mathematics.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) in 2017 and have taught at Lord Howe Island Central School, Springwood Public School, Albert Park Public School, Lismore South Public School and Wyrallah Public School.
